Xbox reveals first Game Pass releases for May 2022

Xbox Wire, the official Twitter account for Xbox news, just announced the first games that will become available with a Game Pass subscription in May 2022.

Here’s the new tweet, which showcases the upcoming releases:

Loot River is available today, kicking everything off as a Day One release on Game Pass. It’s a dungeon-crawler with procedurally generated labyrinths. The visuals have low graphics, but they’re intentionally hazy and charming.

This is yet another example of how Game Pass allows players to try out indie games that mainstream audiences might otherwise overlook, due to the overwhelming noise of triple A titles.

Upcoming Game Pass Releases

Trek to Yomi is coming up next on May 5th, also releasing to Game Pass on day one. It’s an action side-scroller set in the Edo period of Japan, making it the perfect way to celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

Your protagonist begins with just a katana, but more weapons can be unlocked throughout the game. The artwork is absolutely glorious and unique, and its moody look continues the trend set by classics like Inside.

Joining Trek to Yomi on May 5th is Citizen Sleeper‘s Day One release. Citizen Sleeper is a surprising RPG set on a space station, inspired by traditional tabletop RPGs.

On May 10th, you’ll find Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Anniversary Edition, Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising, and This War of Mine: Final Cut.

Danganronpa 2 is a visual novel that released back in 2012, giving players who missed it another chance.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is a brand new JRPG prequel to Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, which isn’t even due until 2023. The characters are confirmed to tie-in to the next game.

This War of Mine: Final Cut is another 3D side-scroller with gritty visuals. The update includes a remaster, and plenty of new content, such as a new character and classic scenario.

Finally, May 12th will release NHL 22, which only came out just a few months ago. It’s a fun addition for any gamers who need their hockey fix during the warmer seasons.
